...but not really. Tonight I had the crappy section. The one that everyone thinks is 'the sh t' but is so great 'whatever' that no one wants to leave. Table 15 - everything wonderful. I hit all the points in fine dining. So outgoing and wonderful I half expected them to be reviewers. They weren't. Scraped plates, lots of kidding around, dessert and coffee and repeated checkbacks. Along with the obligatory - more coffee, water, wine? anything....no no no they were fine. Problem at 14 - lamb shanks are cold. Patron says nada to me.... chills the exec chef on rounds. I replace an entree (comp the lamb) to go without the patron ever saying one un-nice word to me. On their way out the first table grabs me and pulls me to the side.... Her complaint? After my final check back with her table - when I was dealing the the "shank" issue.... "I could've filled her water one more time and gotten 20% but I cost myself because I didn't. EX-fu kin-cuse me? I asked repeatedly what I could refill. YOU said you were fine. You charged me 5% because if what exactly?? The table that had the great time... .25 cents less than 15 % The classy table who wrote the chef for less than superior food? 20% and they wouldn't let me pour their two bottles of wine. I trying to get used to that.... but it still bugs me that I should be doing more... Me |
