Six of us (4 adults) had dinner at a Japanese restaurant. Menu indicated 15% added for party of 6 or more. A hand-written bill showed $62 (something) with $10 (something) added to $72.45 total. I handed my American Express. The credit card slip had $72.45, then tip line, then total line. I left tip line blank and wrote $72.45 on total line. As we were walking to the parking lot, a waiter (not ours) chased after us, waving our credit card slip saying "You left no tip." When I told him that our waiter already added to the bill, he asked "On table?" I told him to look at the green (hand-written) bill. He ran in then out to catch us again, this time to our car, with the green bill. My husband pointed to the $10 tip. "Oh, ok. Sorry." he said then ran back in.

I wonder, if a customer does not leave a tip for one reason or another, and the waiter chases after him demanding a tip, would he pull out his wallet in the parking lot or go back to the restaurant to give the waiter the cash/credit card?

whatever he does, tip again or not... I'd bet my ass I'd be calling or going back in to the manager as it is a NO NO to question one about the tip left (or no tip) in other words you are not to talk "tip talk" to or around the guests!!!
that is "grounds for termination" and in my book $10 bucks isnt worth anyones job! but as we all know, there are idiots out there! (guests and servers both!)

and I sure hope 15% was worth his services, being that since you were only 4 at the table, it never should have been added on there... the guy is trying to scam you or did he just scam himself outta 20%!!??? either way, he should be turned it... sounds like a scammer in my book
(and they are the idiots who give the rest of us a bad rap!!!) FIRE HIS BUTT!

"and I sure hope 15% was worth his services, being that since you were only 4 at the table, it never should have been added on there..."

The story indicates that there were 6 people there.

You're right about the tip talk thing. The closest I've ever done is glowered at people <chuckle>. And it worked once. Guy left me $3 on $97. Someone else at the table pulled me aside after they left and asked me if the guy didn't leave a proper tip. I said, "I'm afraid so. He left me $3 on $97". The guy said, "I could tell by your look. Here's the rest of the money."

Turns out he was a server as well. And yes, he gave me extra.

You're absolutely correct about The Jerk.
