I rarely get my hair cut, so I'm already nervous about going to a salon. Even worse, I have to put the services on a credit card. How awful is it (for the service providers) if I put the tip/s on my credit card bill, as well? |

Some of the salons I go to don't allow that. They say cash only for tips. |

Thanks. I'm glad I waited for an answer before going. I've only got $5 cash on me right now, and I would have been embarressed to have to face a no-tip situation. I have no idea what the salon will be charging for the haircut, so I have no idea how much the tip will be. |

Call ahead and ask. Places like the Hair Cuttery will let you put it on the card. Independent salons have many different policies. Some let you put it on the card, some will add it to the total and hand you the cash to give to them. Some just say cash only. |

Just thought I'd let the forum know that today I finally went to get my hair cut. As I was waiting to register, or whatever you call it in a salon, I noticed that another woman was putting the tip on her credit card, but I still decided I would tip cash. I really liked the way the stylest treated me and cut my hair, so I tipped about 20%. |

tippers, we have super cuts type places down here in Florida. My son sometimes just want a buzz cut, no fade of something funky. They charge 7 bucks I always tip 5. |

Tips on credit cards are just as much appreciated as tips in the form of cash. The one thing I have to complain about tips on credit cards are that the tips circulate through the register before it gets to you. That and it's automatically accounted for and you have to claim it regardless. That's how it works at Cracker Barrel at least. |
