I am thinking about moving to OH, and I've been looking at diff restaurants for server jobs. Has anyone had any experience with The Melting Pot? It's a fondue place and it always seems packed and it's not cheap either. We don't have any where I live now so I was curious if anyone had any opinions on this place in general and especially the ones around Columbus OH. Thanks

Never been to any in Columbus, but generally, you're going to have high bills and I bet the tips are a pretty good percentage, the clientele is pretty upscale - at least at the two that I've been to. but you aren't going to turn tables over very fast, fondue is slow to eat - you might have tables that are only served once in an evening, so don't let the fact that it's packed make you think the money's fantastic. Food's good, nothing special or anything.

We don't have those anywhere near here, but if it is a chain that has higher than casual dining prices, you have the potential for a good clientele. No matter where you work, the potential for the occasional sh*tbag still exists, but less often. You might do well there. GL to you whatever you do!

I talked to a server from there. he said he made $100 during the week and $200 on weekends. I thought it was higher but since almost every table is doing 4 course meals and they cook their own entrees most tables are there about 2 hours. This was in South Florida.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the melting pot!!! Havent ever worked there, but as a guest/costomer its on my TOP 5 list of places to go!!!

My husband takes me there every year for my birthday or our anniversary. It's a wonderful place to go for a great meal, great service and some "alone" time... can't say that we'd take our kids there as it can take sometime to get through a meal... however now that they are older, I am looking forward to taking them out for an "adult meal".

I say GO FOR IT!!! atleast as a costomer I can give it 4-5 stars!!!

I eat there whenever I can. The waiters have a lot to learn about all the different oils, sauces, instructions on how long to cook each thing, so they can instruct the customers. Seems like a lot to learn and remember. My impression from eating there is that you will put in a lot of time at the table when the customer first sits down, but after that it's refills on drinks, basically. Might make it easier or harder to keep up with your tables, depending on if they allow you enough time to get a table going before seating another new table. I'd imagine the tips would be pretty good- we're always impressed with how knowledgeable the servers are, and the extended time spent allows the customer to really get to know and like you. The service is more personal than at other types of restaurants so if you're good, I'd think you'd do pretty well percentage wise.

That place scares me as a waiter, the problem is, when you only have 4 or 5 tables total in a night, if someone hijacks you and leave you $15 on $200 you are DONE for the whole night.

But none-the-less, I know a server that worked there, and said he did ok, nothing spectacular, but I make more at Cheesecake Factory.

You will also be expected to learn a LOT at Melting Pot, especially the wines, it's insane.

I'm not sure if I would highly recommend it, it may be ok, but you may be off with something else.

Problem with Melting Pot is, it's VERY easy to have $50 nights.

You don't work at The Sawgrass Cheesecake do you? That place is awful! I get bad food everytime I go. i went on Wed. and my friend's $12 Kobe burger was well done when she asked for med. and my thai chicken pasta was cold waiting for her burger.

Las Olas and Boca both have awesome Cheesecakes though.

It was my first time having it but I loved it. I get something different almost everytime and have loved them all.

Yeah the server pretty good. I think his name was Carlos, but I had trouble understanding him. His accent was pretty thick. Good thoug.

Oh the last time I went to that one the server stunk. She hung out and talked to her friends and nobody brought out our food (it was 10 on a Sunday night). Then when she brought it out it was all crusty from sitting under the lamps I guess.
