A party of six comes into this restaurant, they are seated of course. There was this one guy acting as the "host of the table"......so he pulls the server to the side and says "heres my credit card, I am taking care of everything." They consume cocktails, apps, entrees, you know the works. So a couple of hours pass and the "host of the table" tells the server to get everyone another round of drinks and go ahead and take care of the check. The server comes back with drinks, but no credit card slip for the guy to sign. The server explained that somehow he had misplaced the card, but assured him that he would find it and take care of their check. The table continues to chit chat and enjoy their drinks. Thirty minutes later the server returns empty handed; The guy asks, "Where is my damn credit card?" The server explains that he still can't locate the card. The guy gets very loud and irate, he then jumps up and takes a swing at the server.... but misses. Another guy from a different table then cold cocks the guy(with the missing credit card) right in his face...knocking him flat on the table. Fortunately this restaurant had security to intervene, the "host" was the only one who ended up in police custody that night. |

Did they ever find the card? Man, can't believe the server lost the card. I would have had that bad boy locked up in my underwear or something. |

The restaurant decided to comp the entire bill. I must admit though, I would be pretty upset if someone lost my credit card. |

As the server, I'd be pretty upset that I lost out on the tip, but he/she did lose the card. When someone gives us their card like that, I ask that they give it to me, and I put it behind the bar in a safe place. |

Good policy bistroy, because no matter how honest the server really is...the guest is not going to be to receptive to someone losing their credit card. |

We can pre authorize at my job. So I swipe the card and get all of the info on the computer, then hand it back. Formerly Jammie

jam/cinta - do you guys add an auto grat on people who start a tab and forget to sign out when they leave? Or does it not happen enough to bother? |

No, I just cash it out. I guess I could and it would only be a problem if they dispute the charge. Then they would look up the transaction in the office and remove the tip portion. But if they never sign the total they would never know how much the bill really was. Hey I just got a good idea. Formerly Jammie

Well, Jammie/Hacinta, it's good to know who you really are. I'm guessing that you could figure out who I am, from another site that you frequent. |

Nope. Never put 2 and 2 together. These are different worlds for me now that the trolls haven't made their way over there yet. |

Ahh, so that's how they do it? I work at the bank during the day and deal with ID theft calls a few times a week. Wow. Technology at it's best. |

You can get even smaller ones than that one. And you can get a magnetic card printer for under $400 if you look around for a few minutes on Google. So, for under $500 or $600, you can have the ability to copy and duplicate cards as long as you already have a computer. |
