As I've said before, I am a great tipper, and take pride in giving a good tip (but I only boast online). I do have a problem with one restaurant though: Sizzler. In Sizzler, you order before you are seated, bring a tray with your drinks to the table, where your waiter/waitress picks up a receipt and gives you service. Here is the thing: When you pay upfront, they have a tip line. I refuse to leave a tip before I am even seated! So of course I leave it blank. The thing is, I am a credit card man. I don't carry cash, and if I do, it's mainly large bills. After my meals at Sizzler, I find that my tips are not pappy97 quality because of the cash issue. If I could leave the tip on a card, convenient like any other restaurant in the whole freaking United States, it would be very good. It is REALLY frustrating because all they have to do is have you pay afterwards instead of paying upfront. Paying upfront ONLY makes sense for a buffet or a pizza place or fast food. Why won't Sizzer switch to a pay afterwards policy? Are they too cheap to print out menus to look over at the table? The set up need not change except that you go to the cash register AFTER your meal, not before it. Doesn't Sizzler care for it's employees? Because of this reason, I avoid Sizzler and I don't necessarily want to. Thanks. |

Umm, the VISA machine for restaurants/pubs/deli's automatically print this out to allow the restaurant a tipping procedure, if they have one. Sizzler, along with a few others I know are sort of quasi-buffet lines where you get a tray, some immediate items and order your main course at the register and pay. Tipping is not required. They get paid hourly. If you feel the quasi-server who brought the food out and is refilling your drinks with a smile, I suggest bringing a few dollars in the future. |
